Bodhidharma
Bodhidharma, a South Indian Pallava prince, became a Buddhist monk and founded Chan (Zen) Buddhism and the Shaolin martial arts lineage. He travelled to China to spread Mahayana teachings. Between 520 and 526 AD, he most likely travelled by sea to southern China.
Huen
Tsang
Huen Tsang, also known as Xuanzang, was a 7th-century Chinese Buddhist monk, scholar, and explorer. He began a famous 17-year journey to India from 629 to 645 AD to search for authentic Buddhist texts. People often describe his journey as a “walk for Dhamma.” He undertook this quest to resolve contradictions in the Buddhist teachings available in China at that time.
Hyecho
In order to study Buddhism, a Shilla-era Korean monk Hyecho travelled
from Korea to China in the eighth century, then to India, visiting holy places
before making his way back along the Silk Road.
Maha Ghosananda
Maha Ghosananda build bridges amongst people, who led
"Walks for Peace" through war-torn Cambodia. He coordinated monks'
and laypeople's journeys, which typically lasted 45 days and covered around 650
kilometers, to places that were still heavily fortified and where landmines
were still prevalent.

In 2022, Aloka started accompanying the monks on their 112-day journey for peace through Nepal and India from Calcutta air port.
Impact of Walk for Peace
The Walk for Peace monks' presence has been described as
profoundly soothing and a restorer of "faith in mankind" by the thousands
of people of America who continues stands line the highways to see them, many
of whom are clearly upset or crying.
In order to develop personal calm, many followers report
using simple mindfulness using five words of 'Peace" prescription. Their gritting
involves writing "Today is my Peace day" every morning for Venerable
monks.
