What are Basics Life Skills?

After all a skill is a learned ability to do something well.

According to WHO, which stands for the World Health Organization, life skills are specifically defined as "the capacities for adaptive and good conduct that enable the person to deal effectively with the demands and obstacles of everyday life." Here 'adaptive' means that a person is flexible in approach and is able to adjust in different circumstances and 'positive behaviour' implies that a person is forward looking nature.

  2. ​Coping with emotions: Coping with emotions involves recognizing emotions within us and others, being aware of how emotions influence behavior and being able to respond to emotions appropriately.
  3. Coping with stress: Coping with stress means recognizing the sources of stress in our lives, recognizing how this affects us, and acting in ways that help us control our stress.
  • Social Skills:
  • Empathy: Empathy is the ability to be sensitive to another person’s solution, as in the case of disease sufferers, or people with mental illnesses, who may be avoided by the very people when they depend upon for support.
  • ​Self Awareness: Buddha always says, “You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection." Self Awareness is the ability to understand our strengths & weakness of ourselves.
  • Effective communication: Effective communication is the ability to express, both verbally and nonverbally, in ways that are culturally acceptable.
  • Interpersonal relationship skills: An interpersonal relationship skill helps to relate with people in a positive way. It also means being able to make and maintain friendly relationships, which can be of great importance to our mental and social well being.

LOTs mean by skill of low order thinking ability that are first Remembering, then Understanding and the Applying.

Higher-order thinking skills, often known as (HOTS), are the final three components, which include analysing, evaluating, and creating.

Because HOTS is seen to better prepare students for the demands of both advanced academic life and daily adult professional life, it is highly valued.

 High level of higher order thinking skills are necessary to be successful in life.

You must be able to keep an eye on your own emotions, notice various emotional responses, and then properly name each individual feeling.
